ON THE BEAT – STREET DANCE COMPETITION INFORMATION

Sunday 11th May – Winter Gardens, Blackpool

Please read very carefully and take note of all times.

COMPETITION PREP

Tickets
Tickets will be ready to collect from reception from Wednesday 7th May. No replacements will be issued so please do not lose them. We cannot vouch for purchased tickets if lost/forgotten when you arrive on the day.

All spectators & competitors require a ticket to enter the ballroom.

A limited number of tickets, at a higher price, will be available to buy on the day.

Outfits
All outfits have either been handed out, or are ready to collect this week.

TIMETABLE

Please read carefully as some dancers are dancing in younger/older teams and their solo’s may be in a different section.

The event is divided into two main sections:

  • 11 years & under
  • 12 years & over

With the team events taking place in between.

  • 8:10am – Church Street doors open
  • 8:15am – Ballroom doors open for dancers & spectators
  • 8:15am – Latest Arrival of all dancers aged 11 & under
  • 9:00am – Section 1 set routines (11 years & under)
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 11:00am – Section 1 freestyle solos (11 years & under)
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 12:20pm – Section 1 duos (11 years & under) & parents solos
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 1:00pm – Section 1 trios/quads (11 years & under) & parents trios/quads
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 1:00pm – Latest Arrival of all dancers aged 12 & over
  • 1:15pm – Parent & child fun event
    Awards presented immediately after each final

    BREAK

  • 1:45pm – All ages team events
    Awards presented immediately after all teams have danced
  • 3:15pm – Section 2 trios/quads (12 years & over)
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 3:30pm – Section 2 set routines (12 years & over)
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 5:15pm – Section 2 freestyle solos (12 years & over)
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 6:15pm – Elite All Stars
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 6:25pm – Section 2 duos (12 years & over)
    Awards presented immediately after each final
  • 7:15pm – Approximate finish time

Checklist for the day of the competition

Jets – Thursday 4:30pm 9 & under team

  • Blue Cargos
  • Black long sleeve crew neck top
  • Black trainers
  • Blue bandanna – To be borrowed from us on the day (girls only)

Salute – Thursday 5:00pm 13 & under team

  • Pink Cargos
  • White T-shirt
  • White trainers

Hairstyles for the day of the competition

  • Jets – High pony, plenty of gel & hairspray
  • Salute – Two half head plaits, with hair down, curly or straight (see image below)

Solo Dancers

  • All dancers will be doing a set dance & freestyle at the competition and you can wear anything. This does not have to be fever uniform. Please see your teacher if you are unsure on what to wear.

Extra important information

  • Arrival
    – You may arrive in the ballroom in your solo or team outfit depending on which you are dancing first with your fever tracksuit jacket or hoodie. If you don’t have a fever jacekt please wear plain black.

    – Please enter through Church street entrance.

    – All competitors and spectators need a ticket (wristband) to enter the ballroom. There will be no replacements for lost/forgotten wristbands. Please make sure all tickets are secured to your wrist BEFORE you enter the Blackpool Tower.

  • Seating 
    – Fever will be sat in one area of the empress ballroom.

    – Please check in with a member of Fever staff when you arrive so they can note your arrival time down.

    – Once seated get dressed into your outfit, please use the toilets provided. Changing in the ballroom is not permitted. Once dressed see a staff member for your solo number. You will keep your number on until you finish your solo section.

  • Recalls
    – Recalls for solos will be via the organisers microphone on stage and via WhatsApp. Fever staff will organise all children for recalls. Please make sure your child is sat with their near the dance floor near to their round. We understand children will need the toilet but try and avoid taking them around the recall time.
  • Solo Presentation
    – After each competition final has been danced they will present the finalist’s with their trophies this is to speed up the day. We kindly ask you walk round the edge of the dance floor when going to take photographs for presentation. This should only be after ALL places have been called.
  • Team Presentation
    – Please kindly let Fever staff members take a photograph of each team before parents rush to the front.
  • Food & Drink
    – The venue allows people to bring their own packed lunches inside. Hot takeaway food is not permitted to be brought inside unless it has been purchased inside the Wintergardens.
  • Questions
    – Any questions please ask a member of Fever staff and refrain from contacting On the Beat. We have direct contact with the organisers should we need to ask any questions on your behalf.
  • Videoing
    Only videoing of your child’s solo’s is permitted. Please DO NOT video any team. A member of the Fever team will be in charge of team videos.
